  Village Africa is looking for a full-time manager to work in Tanzania.

This is a voluntary position with expenses paid including flight, insurance, accommodation and food. 

Starting date negotiable (May-July 2010) for a minimum of one year.

Village Africa is a UK registered charity.  It is a small but very active charity helping some of the poorest people in the world.  It is based in a remote setting.

Role:
  • To be a member of Village Africa's management team
  • To train international volunteers including orientation, health and safety and voluntary work skills
  • To make volunteer arrangements in the villages (domestic arrangements, liaison with schools, health post, building sites etc)
  • To coordinate incountry volunteer travel
  • To liaise with our UK based volunteer recruitment agency
  • To train Tanzanian staff, English, management, admin, computing and to help look after volunteers
  • To assist with general project email correspondence (eg. donors, past volunteers)
  • To assist with analysis of accounts
  • To assist with fundraising and marketing as time permits

Essential Requirements:
  • Willing to live in a remote setting in basic conditions (no water/electricity)
  • Fluent English
  • Good health
  • IT literate (email, WORD, EXCEL)
  • GCSE or equivalent English and Maths
  • Good admin and organisational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player
Desirable Requirements:
  • Teaching qualification and experience
  • TEFL certificate and experience
  • First aid certificate
  • A-levels (or equivalent or above)
  • Management skills
  • Good writing skills
  • Knowledge of accounts/budgets
  • Experience as a volunteer in the UK or overseas
  • Kiswahili and/or Kisambaa languages (although translator will be provided whenever necessary)
Age: 18+
